Adagio and Osso & Bottone Two new collections by Ronan Bouroullec
January 2025 begins with a significant new launch for Domus, the latest in its prestigious partnership with Mutina, the renowned Italian design house.
Adagio and Osso & Bottone are two landmark new collections from French designer Ronan Bouroullec, one of the world’s leading product designers and a longtime Mutina collaborator. Bouroullec’s work spans both art and design and he brings this unique blend of talent to a wide range of projects.
What makes these collections stand out is how Bouroullec brings a new perspective to tile design. Gone are the conventional rectangles or squares, to be replaced by his new vision – the long narrow modules of Adagio and the carefully sculpted shapes of Osso (bone) & Bottone (button) which allow grout to become part of the overall aesthetic.
Adagio’s form is the most surprising at first glance, with its narrow linear modules - a double-fired white body ceramic, hand finished with high gloss glaze - created to form ‘scenic wall sculptures’. It comes in five single or five dual colour options.
In a first for Mutina, this collection is designed with outdoor in mind. With a thickness of 10mm, Osso & Bottone modules are made of unglazed porcelain stoneware, with coloured full-body mixture available in a palette of five obtained from a delicate mix of coloured earth.
