London based interior designer Helen Bentley teamed up with architect Melissa White to realise the potential of her semi-detached home to create a stunning contemporary living and kitchen space using Domus Wood flooring throughout.

Situated in Highgate, the property previously contained a small galley kitchen and eating area. Melissa White Architects added a full-width rear extension with natural light flooding in from several different locations - a large bench window, full-width sky-light and bi-fold doors. Interior designer Helen Bentley specified 90 SQM of Domus Wood flooring in herringbone format in a mid-oak tone to run through the entire ground floor renovation and extension, adding an inviting warmth to the space while linking all new rooms with the same beautiful natural material.

Cosy accessible spaces

The natural wood floor works perfectly as part of the muted, earthy palette along with beautiful mid-century style furniture and bespoke plywood cabinetry. Subtle pops of colour are provided through pieces of furniture, fabrics and home accessories to ensure the space does not feel either too classic or minimal. The overall result is family focused series of kitchen, dining and living spaces and an open, clean and pragmatic layout, reflecting the way the family uses the space on a daily basis.
