Porcelain stone tile designs used at historic renovation project in the Cotswolds, Oxfordshire

With interiors by DesignLSM, Heythrop Park Hotel presents a transformative renovation of Heythrop Park manor house estate near Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire, which has recently re-opened as a luxury hotel and lifestyle travel destination in the heart of the Cotswolds.

Originally built in 1706-1711 for the 1st Duke of Shrewsbury, DesignLSM's renovation breathes new life and energy into the 18th-century Grade II listed property. Blending a current design sensibility with the original charm of the historic manor house to entice guests on a journey of discovery and exploration – using porcelain stone tiles and mosaic designs from Domus throughout the lobby area.

Nestled within 440 acres of scenic parkland, DesignLSM were careful to respect the property's historical integrity at the design and specification stage, opting to retain and showcase original architectural features in tandem with contemporary details. The project pays homage to the historical style and architectural heritage of Heythrop Park – respecting the building's original design intent whilst ensuring a cohesive and engaging aesthetic for guests and visitors.

Porcelain stone tiles from Domus’ Stontech 4.0 range are used on the floor in the main lobby area, utilised in a simple yet striking scheme which sees large format dark grey coloured tiles combined with natural-toned mosaic tiles. The main expanse of flooring uses the large format dark-grey tiles, whilst the contrasting-coloured mosaics are used as part of a bold geometric design element within a border frame detail within the centre of the space to introduce eye-catching interest.

This graphic modern classic feature detail delivers a timeless aesthetic whilst also referencing the aerial aspect view of the manor house – including its grounds and landscape design – ensuring a fitting balance of simplicity and drama in its historical setting.

In a natural grip finish, the full-body Porcelain Stone tiles specified for Heythrop Park Hotel’s lobby integrate modern performance functionalities into the historic building, merging aesthetics and tactility with functional superiority. Ensuring this heavy foot-traffic area delivers on technical requirements, Domus’  Stontech 4.0 porcelain stone tiles offer a high-performance, slip-resistant surface design material that is incredibly hardwearing, non-porous, and stain-resistant – making it incredibly easy to clean and maintain, even in high traffic areas.

Complemented by modern classic furnishings together with 3D structured green glazed wall tiles which adorn structural pillars, the lobby design presents a striking touch of heritage-oriented glamour to greet guests upon arrival at Heythrop Park Hotel. Delivering a distinctive design identity and igniting a sense of anticipation and excitement.
