Case studies Grant Thornton
A sustainability-first workplace
Set in London's Finsbury Circus, Grant Thornton's new UK offices combine sustainability with human-centred design. Designed by HLW, the two-floor workspace is open yet thoughtfully zoned to various working styles while fostering collaboration and wellbeing.

Design with Intention
The design process was led by HLW's in-house sustainability consultancy, who developed a bespoke framework to guide key decisions. Life Cycle Assessments shaped the material strategy, ensuring every product met high standards of performance and environmental responsibility. Domus supplied multiple finishes aligning with this decision, each meeting EPD and ISO certification standards.

Sustainable Surfaces for the Modern Workplace
Throughout the space, Suber Cork Purity flooring creates a warm and inviting atmosphere. A renewable and low-carbon material, cork brings both thermal comfort and visual softness to the environment. Its refined, organic grain introduces a quiet depth, creating a natural rhythm that grounds the interior.
In circulation zones and kitchenettes, Sensi porcelain tiles anchor the palette in serene, neutral tones. Composed of 20% recycled content, it was selected not only for its sustainability credentials but for its refined elegance, offering a clean backdrop that complements the surrounding materials.

Elevated Finishes with Textural Depth
For countertops and splashbacks, Plimatech Magnum porcelain offers the sophisticated look of honed granite, but with the durability and performance of porcelain. With its complex grain, it brings movement and energy to the space, serving as a subtle counterpoint to the quiet minimalism of Sensi.

At the concierge desk and coffee bar, our ceramic tile, Faces, introduces a subtle layer of texture. Installed in varying finishes, white for the coffee bar's back wall and a deep charcoal for the counters, it allows each zone to retain its own identity while maintaining a unified visual narrative. The reception floor is finished with sustainably sourced Bjelin XL Lacquered engineered flooring in oak. Richly grained, the wood imparts a natural warmth, establishing the tone for the experience to come.
HLW's thoughtful design has transformed Grant Thornton's new space into more than just a traditional workplace; it's a space where sustainability and wellbeing are not just ideals but are integrated into every aspect, reflecting the firm's forward-thinking ethos.
