Case studies ABI Interiors Showroom

Designed by Conran and Partners, ABI Interiors’ new flagship showroom in Clerkenwell translates the Australian brand’s distinctive design language into a warm, tactile London setting. Conceived less as a traditional retail space and more as a place to spend time, explore materials and make specification decisions, the two-storey showroom combines residential warmth with the practical demands of a busy design destination.
Domus supplied both timber flooring and tiles throughout the scheme, helping to establish the material character of the interior. Bjelin XL Lacquered oak flooring runs through key areas, bringing natural warmth and visual continuity to the space. The generous plank size showcases the character and variation of the oak, while its durability makes it a practical choice for a busy showroom environment.
The staircase creates a striking transition between the two levels, bringing two of the scheme’s key materials together. Bjelin oak continues across the treads, while Petrology travertine-effect porcelain is used on the risers, leading naturally towards the tiled lower floor. The contrast between warm timber and stone creates a beautifully considered detail and a strong visual connection between the two spaces.
Tiles are used throughout to introduce shifts in texture, colour and scale, creating a series of distinct settings within the showroom. Meld in Oliva introduces earthy, muted green tones, with its small format, natural tonal variation and glossy finish bringing depth and character to the walls. Elsewhere, a considered mix of larger formats, matt surfaces, stone effects, richer colours and reflective finishes creates varied backdrops for ABI’s brassware and fittings. Each area has its own material identity while remaining connected to the wider scheme.
Together, the timber and tile selections bring warmth, texture and variety to the showroom, creating an inviting environment where materials can be experienced as part of a complete interior rather than viewed in isolation.
