Bath's Largest Hotel

The Apex Hotel in Bath is the group’s tenth venture and first outside Scotland and London. The hotel is Bath’s most enormous with 177 bedrooms, multiple meeting rooms, a business lounge, swimming pool, gym, restaurant and bar.

Clean Contemporary Aesthetics

The hotel is designed by Ian Springford Associates, the Scottish-based practice responsible for the interiors across the Apex Hotels group, all of which use Domus materials throughout. The light and airy interior has a clean contemporary aesthetic utilising primarily muted tones with splashes of colour across the spectrum.

Texture also plays an essential role in the hotel’s design. The floor of the spacious reception area uses two porcelain stone tiles, Petrology Stone 3 in a soft neutral shade alongside Floortech 1.0 in a dark grey tone. This is complemented by a centrally positioned front desk which uses striking U-Color wood effect porcelain tiles in a herringbone layout in a mix of white, turquoise and yellow. The same flooring materials are continued from the reception through to the bar and restaurant, with the addition of Jumble used in a sand colour where the dining tables are positioned to add texture and interest.

Neutral coloured porcelain stone floor tiles add visual texture and interest alongside dark grey tiled walls

Utilising the same style as the reception desk, the front of the bar is tiled with eye-catching U-Color herringbone format tiles, here used in a mix of white, orange and red. Red is also used as a feature colour in the swimming pool area, with red Seta mosaic tiling used alongside a beige colour in the showers, with Burlington porcelain stone on the walls and Floortech 1.0 on the floor leading to the swimming pool itself. Elsewhere in the hotel, Domus Wood flooring in a pale oak tone is used across a large central floor area which leads to the business meeting rooms.
