The world-famous
book store

The world-famous book store, Foyles, now resides in one of the UK's most dynamic and spacious interiors that includes a cafe, auditorium and gallery that hosts year-round literary and music events.

The old university building of Central St. Martin's was redeveloped by architects Lifschutz Davidson Sandilands into an inviting split level floor layout with a generous central light well and atrium.

The original floor from the old ballroom was restored and re-laid in the central area, and a new Domus engineered oak floor added to the remainder of the new areas including the entrance lobby, book aisles, stairways, lift areas, cafe and exhibition spaces.

"When we first discussed the supply of timber flooring for Foyles, our specific finish requirements were not available in their existing product range. Domus worked quickly to develop a finish which precisely met our visual requirements. We also had the benefit of their excellent technical support throughout the duration of the project."

- James Parkin, Lifschutz Davidson Sandilands
