Managing business during the COVID-19 emergency Re-opening limited core operations on 27.04.20
Business Update 22.04.2020
To all our valued customers and partners,
Firstly, I hope that you, your families and colleagues are all safe and well during this unprecedented period of isolation from our familiar business and personal lifestyles.
Since we suspended our business operations on 24th March we have been closely monitoring current levels of activity and demand within the construction sector as well as closely scrutinising our own operating procedures in context with the guidance and advice from both Government and industry experts.
We are increasingly aware that a growing number of construction sites are re-opening having been temporarily closed at the peak of the crisis – at the time this involved around half of all UK projects by value. Following the Government’s continued stance of highlighting construction as a permitted activity, contractors large and small, have in collaboration with their employers carried out detailed risk assessments and introduced 'Safe Operating Procedures' to enable activity on-site to recommence (in most cases at reduced capacity) whilst respecting the Government guidelines laid down to protect everyone involved and in doing so kick-starting this critical sector of the economy.
The consequential requirement for the construction industry supply chain is crucial in order to enable the above to function effectively and so we have, as many others will be, finalised our plan to recommence limited operations from Monday 27th April primarily to service the urgent needs and respond to the requirements of our customers and their live projects. I hope this will be viewed as a positive step for all concerned and lead to a smooth transition back towards a position of operational normality.
It goes without saying that all aspects of this plan have been carefully considered with a formal risk assessment and changed operational processes in place, all in line with government advice and construction industry guidelines, to protect the safety of the staff members and others involved. This will enable us to align ourselves as closely as possible with the resurgence in demand that we expect to be evident from the end of this month.
From Monday 27th April, we will resume the receipt, collection and delivery of goods to and from our warehouses and provide a small operations team to fulfil urgent enquiries and sample requests. Our showrooms will remain closed for the time being.
You can continue to contact us, via [email protected] or individual email addresses you have, should you require further clarification or assistance. Our operations team will respond to you as quickly as possible and we hope this should not hamper our ability to manage the vast majority of enquiries and requirements.
I do hope that the above is of assistance and thank you for your support.
With best wishes,
Jon Newey
